EYEOUT #1 – EAT LIGHTS BECOME LIGHTS

Before we kick off, let me explain the idea behind EyeOut. Effectively it’s the same concept employed by millions of other blog sites out there, except… (no. forget it. this is no different). Just think of it as a gentle push in the direction of various artistes, each of which in their own way makes me tick.

Eat Lights Become Lights

And so.. first up? Eat Lights Become Lights. Firstly, this should probably be read whilst listening to what I feel is their best song..

Eat Lights Become Lights – They Transmit

The band say:
“THIS IS A HEAVENLY SLICE OF PURE PSYCH/KRAUTROCK, FUZZ GUITARS, DRONES AND MELODIES FULLY ART WORKED BY THE LEGENDARY PSYCH/GRAPHIC ARTIST ROD HARRISON”

They describe themselves on their MySpace as “Neo-Kraut-Drone”, and NME thoughtfully championed them as “[mixing] krautrock rhythms and celestial drones to heavenly effect”. The glorious antithetical drone/harmony combination and the dramatic entrance of the beating drums in ‘They Transmit’ will undoubtedly pull up references to Spacemen 3 and Six By Seven, but upon listening to them you can’t help but feel these guys have more to them than meets the eye. Certainly one to watch out for in the future. Indeed… keep an EyeOut.

Chris Martin and his bestest buddies.. yea

So tonight (16th June) Coldplay are playing a free gig at the Brixton Academy, London.
Obviously Radio 1, in their typically arsey fashion, are ‘all over that shit, maaan’ having had enough of Dave Grohl and his Pals. Now I’m usually a defender of Zane Lowe, but the trail for these ‘amazing gigs by amazing bands’ (pfft) is cringeworthy. No, no one cares about Jo Whiley. No, Coldplay and the Foo Fighters are not the best bands in the universe. No, I don’t want to listen it it.

Anyway, despite the fact that I abhor the fact that Radio 1 are all over Coldplay, their new album is rather good. Use your common sense and find it, or even better buy it!

Welcome, World!

What can I say? But welcome..
